On another note hope everyone is on there way to finishing up for the Christmas holiday, I'm going to try and finish up today. I'm not going to say finish it all that would be too high a list to get done. I keep saying start earlier but I don't listen to myself.

what to do with the birds

Hi everyone,
Well I have been  neglecting my blog and I said I would not do this, so I am sorry. I love reading everyone's blog and did some catching up today. There is a lot of beautiful work going on for the Holidays, and just pure fun for all! Thank you blog land for making it easy to meet new and exciting, talented people.
I have been making birds and more birds. Not for the tree. I want to do something else with them. Does anyone have any ideas as to how to use them?
Here are a few of them,
As usual my photos do them no justice!
I also made a nice head rest piece for the back of the chair in my computer/sewing room. I love how the colors came out on this piece!
Who would have thought "pennies" could be so decorative and so easy to use!
Happy sewing and hope your Holidays are coming along smoothly.

more pincushions

Well, I made a few more for my "little" collection of pin cushions. I mean you can never get enough pin cushions can you? There small enough to keep, lovely to look at and very practical right?

They were so much fun to make. The owls from a couple of great gals on www.the DIYdish.com. It is two sisters who do this program, I wish I could remember there names. The bird and bottle cap are just ones I came up with. They will find a spot on my table and make themselves right at home.
Hope all is well with everyone, Holidays are right around the corner, please be safe but have FUN.

working on some things

Hello happy crafters I wanted to share "some things" that I have been working on. Notice the strong word that I use "some things". I mean come on what kind of people start one thing finish it and start another. I know I don't, well I can't. I think some people call it a tick, a tick for crafting and I have it!
As I had mentioned in my last posting I was doing a swap. This is part of the swap a mushroom and toadstool pincushion. The blog we got the pattern from is the little house by the sea. It's a really great blog, she lives the dream life of everyone creating and living by the sea. So I have been working on the toadstool, very excited for it to be done. The reason? Then I will receive the one that was made for me! I love swaps if anyone is interested in there site it is Swap-bot.com, it's free for anyone.
Then I have been working on some Halloween items a little sample:
Now tell me who doesn't like Halloween, fall colors, the cool crisp air. More time for creating don't you think LOL.
Well thank you for visiting my blog, I enjoyed sharing with you, please come back again.

wedding news!

Well they did it, it was the most beautiful, special, romantic, exciting, I just don't know how I can express this more. Yes, my daughter and her "boyfriend" got married. It was wonderful the whole thing. I think and I hope I am speaking for everyone but there was not one unhappy person at this wedding. Oh yah would you like to see a photo? I don't mind showing you because then I can see it again lol.
This is after the ceremony outside of the church. That was even fun crowding everyone on the steps of the church.
Here are the husband and wife dancing there first dance. There good friend sang there favorite song. Wish I could remember  at this time the name of the song. But all in all Erin and Alan worked very hard on this special day and it was. I wish I could express myself to them how special and wonderful they are.
They mean the world to me, well to a lot of people. Love you Erin and Alan! OK the tears are starting to come down a bit to hard, so to move on.
I have been working on a few projects and hope to share them with you soon. I have to finish up a swap right now, mushroom house, pin cushion. What a perfect time of the year to be working on sewing don't think? The nice cool weather, early evenings. Life is pretty darn good don't you think!
Be well until next time!

Summer

Hello bloggers,
First I want to say I am sorry for neglecting my fellow sewers. I had said to myself "if you make a blog you should be faithful" and I haven't. But, I have been busy and tend to have a big mouth, you know letting the cat out of the bag. This is how it goes.
My daughter Erin is getting married next month, 31 days and counting, so I was planning a bridal shower for her. Working on all the decorations and who to invite and what not's. I wanted it to be special and it was.  Erin is in white, Gabrielle (younger daughter) and I in blue (very proud). It turned out so well, I want to thank everyone who helped me out. Will have more pictures soon I hope.
I do hope all is well, I have been keeping up with the wool crazy blog, and all the projects look wonderful! I mean you guys all do amazing work.
The day after the bridal shower we went to a beautiful wedding my husbands nephew. He and his bride make a great special couple I wish them the best. Here is a picture of myself and my husband. Wish it had come out a bit better, but this is it. LOL
And also my sister and I held our second tea party for our great nieces. I tell you it was terrific, they got to paint a flower pot, plant a flower in it, eat and eat, dance, listen to two great flower stories, it was so wonderful. And don't you think they all look so special in there dresses. I have to say don't neglect the little ones enjoy them when they are young. The imaginations and stories they can tell alone are amazing.

Well I won't take up much more of your time, as you can see I have not sewn much lately, but it is right at my fingertips, hopefully it cools off soon so I can pick up the wool block. I have been doing some little projects, I'll try and get some pictures of those and fill everyone in!
Happy, happy blogging to all! Sandy

Tea Party

Hello all,
So last year my Sister and I held our first annual Tea Party for our nieces. As you can see SMay was a bit shy in joining us, but she was very entertaining. The rest of the girls were very good. They had a ball, we had different snacks, played some games and made beautiful decorated hats. As you can see they had on there Sunday bests.

This year we are thinking of a Flower theme. Planting a flower, decorating a pot. So in about 6 to 7 wks I will let you know how we make out! I'm hoping it is a hit like last years.

In my last post the craft fair I was in, I should have pointed out that on the wall behind me there are two wall hangings that I did, only to forget the great person behind the pattern. The patterns are wonderful to work with, very easily read. I would love to give a big credit to Rocking Chair Stitches. The web site is http://www.rockingchairstitches.com/. They have fabulous patterns. Never realizing they were from the same little town I was! That is a hoot to know now. I loved the pattern so much never noticed this. Also she is on the fabulous WCQ blog, I love it. Check out her new and improved blog, fabulous!!!!!

Have a terrific Tuesday ladies!

Fun time Fair

Hello all,
Sunday afternoon here, kind of rainy but the sun is trying to peak out. So I am sitting here watching the movie Avatar. It is a great movie, but very sad. I mean the meaning behind it is great, but to get there it is sad. Did I make sense? It is one that I will watch again.
So last weekend I did a craft fair. Was located down in Stonington, CT. Right next door to Mystic Seaport. Absolutely beautiful there. My sister and her girlfriend put the show on. Was a blast two other sister displayed there talents also. Unfortunately the people did not come. It had rained and was wet and damp. So we figure people did not want to come out, also it was the area first one. Here is a picture of me setting up.
Have not worked on my WCQ in a while. So maybe today I can get to this and show you some new work. Lets hope?????
Have a wonderful Sunday everyone, no matter what the weather gives us!

Penny's from Heaven!

Hello Peeps (easter), So here are the penny rugs I finished. It is such a joy and pleasure, a complete satisfaction when you finish a project that you see sitting there. Don't you think? Here is one
they look a bit washed out, I am not a photo wizard. The colors are more primitive. Here is another,

then I made two circle ones.
These table runners are so much fun to make. I do hope you enjoy them. Now I am still working on my crazy quilt, trying to decide if I like the ladybugs I added. Also working on a sunflower runner, hope to be done this soon.
Although spring has arrived and I was able to clean up some of the yard last weekend it does not look like I will be going out to do this today. It is only 28 degrees out there. I think Mother Nature is a bit confused. So maybe some house cleaning and then some sewing!!!! Aren't I lucky!
Have a wonderful day!

Colt State Park and Sun!

Well today was the best day we have had in a long time. Spring is springing I believe. I think just about everyone was also out and about. A couple of sisters and friends headed to Colt State Park in Bristol, RI to look for sea glass. This is a small bit of what I found.
Not much you say? All the big ones stayed with a sister of mine she is making jewelry with them. Then I found some new rocks and sea shells for the bird bath!

The birds they say love the calcium deposits that are left in the bird bath water. We had a really lovely day there it was picture perfect.
Here is an update of my quilt, It is coming along slowly but surely. Like I have said it a lot of fun to do just deciding what goes where is the hardest. I do hope everyone's is coming along well!

For the Love of Pennies

This is what I have been working on including my Wool Crazy Quilt....2 more penny rugs, table mats! There are alot of them done, but the pile that needs to be done is bigger!

I started making the penny rugs a couple of years ago hence, my love of wool. It started when I was looking through my articles that I have collected from over the years. We all have those piles right? It was an article I had seen in a magazine from years back, I think it was an Early American Life mag that I used to subscribe to.

The "pennies" where started to teach young women sewing skills, also a way of decorating or splurging on decorations items for the home. The ladies would collect peices of wool from old clothing. They originally used a coin as a template to form the pieces. This would be the top layer of three or four pieces. Some used burlap as the backing to weigh this down. I have read other articles where they have used actual pennies on the top layer, sewn right into them to weigh them down.

I love articles on the penny rugs if anyone has any they would love to share please email me!

penny rugs

This is a penny rug that I have done. I so enjoy working with wool!

wool crazy

Hi ladies, I wanted to join in on all the fun you ladies are having. I started mine about 2 wks ago. It took so much time just getting the wool down, then I had to start the stitches. I am only working on this on the wkends, so I can really concentrate on it. Keep up the great work each and everyone of you!
